David Salomon is native of Munich and a seasoned professional with a wide international experience in luxury hotels. Working for many of the world´s greatest luxury brands, he has participated in openings in Boston, Prague and Almaty as well as working with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Mandarin Oriental in Berlin, Munich and Barcelona. David is fluent in German, English and Spanish and lives in his wife’s hometown of Barcelona with their two children.

You have recently joined the management of Hotel Camiral. What has surprised you the most and what characteristics do you think the hotel has to attract MICE clients?

Hotel Camiral reopened in May 2016 after a complete renovation and is the ideal location for any Company that wants to cause a good impression to its customers. Our function rooms have natural light with a capacity for up to 450 people in different set ups according to the specific needs of each client.

We are away from the buzzing city of Barcelona which you can reach within 45 minutes and only 10 minutes away from the cozy Girona. In our Hotel companies and groups can concentrate and focus on their event without being distracted. And they can combine business with activities and F&B events in the stunning natural surroundings of the Resort.

In your opinion, what are the main values of Girona and Catalonia to attract people from the MICE Industry?

Within the MICE industry professionals are not only just looking for a space to arrange meetings with good food and beverage services, they also need to make the event an exceptional experience.

Catalunya is a region that offers a natural landscape, a strong cultural heritage and a great variety of leisure activities. It is a region with an extensive modern infrastructure and it is well connected with Europe and the rest of the world. The province of Girona offers an unparalleled tranquil setting that sets it apart from other MICE destinations. Our clients can complement their stay with activities in the historic city of Girona, visit nearby medieval villages, relax on the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava reachable within 20 minutes by car and play on one of the best Golf courses in Spain and Europe.

It seems like the hotel is broadening the offer as well as the teambuilding activities for Incentive groups. Can you explain us more details about it?

Hotel Camiral is part of PGA Catalunya Resort, that offers two Golf courses with its own Academy, luxurious villas and apartments, an adventure park, a fishing pier and an organic kitchen garden. These facilities were created to complement the lifestyle of our hotel guests and are also very attractive for groups and incentive clients. Over the next few months the Resort will add a second hotel and will launch new sports facilities with two new football fields.

What importance does the Scandinavian market have to your establishment in general?

It is a very important market, Barcelona is easy to reach from Scandinavia and Scandinavians love our destination. It has been one of the main markets for our resort for many years and we look forward to attracting even more business from Scandinavia in the future and especially with the MICE segment.
