What changes has the ‘new normality’ brought when travelling?
In the beginning of July we finally travelled for the first time, since Covid-19 started earlier this year. It was a strange feeling at the beginning, but we felt really safe all the time. At the airport, on the plane, in the hotels, restaurants, while meeting our clients. We would like to share with you our impressions about the new implemented hygiene measures and our feelings while travelling to Mallorca for a business trip.
First of all I have to say that Barcelona airport was really empty, with many shops and Cafés still closed, due to low passenger traffic. Only passengers with flight ticket are allowed to enter the building. In all the waiting halls, you are advised to only occupy one of two seats in a row with special stickers. At the moment of boarding the plane, the staff advised that we cannot enter with our trolley, so you must deliver it before entering the plane and get it in the baggage belt at the destination. The airplane from Barcelona to Mallorca was fully booked and all seats were occupied. Face masks are compulsory during all the flight (and since you enter the airport), everybody got a alcohol towel to wash their hands with a disposal bag and no drinks and food were served during the flight. After landing the purser announced a row by row disembarkment to maintain the minimum distance between the people.
At arrival in Mallorca you pass through a sensor without even noticing, where the temperature of each passenger is taken. When picking up your luggage you can find stickers on the floor in order to maintain enough distance. We did not have to fill out any papers, but I know that passengers that travel to Mallorca from abroad have to fill out a form where they say how many days they will stay on the island, where will they live (hotel, friends), etc.
Checkin procedure at any hotel now means, that it is compulsory to enter with a mask and wear it in all the common areas, except if you are drinking or eating obviously. You must wash your hands at the entrance (you always find hand sanitizing gel at different locations), at some hotels they take your temperature and do the same with their staff members before entering the hotel every day. At registration you get a health and safety commitment sheet with all the new protocols, which you have to sign as understood. For example at Hotel Nixe Palace only 1 room unit is allowed in the elevator.
Safety first!
During our trip we had several meetings at hotels and other venues, where most of the time we had to wear a mask just for respect to others and prevention. We know that Purobeach Illetas has to work now with 75% of its total capacity, so that their clients can enjoy their meals on the terrace 100% and have a nice day by the sea with less sunbeds and people around. All in all everybody will be more comfortable and with guarantee of social distance.
We hope you liked our report from our trip to Mallorca and that this will make you feel secure, when thinking about your next trip to Spain. Please have a look at our Flickr Album with more pictures from this trip and below you can find the check in procedure at Nixe Palace Hotel.
