Barcelona is one of the most touristic cities in Europe. Today we will take you on an imaginary trip through Alella, a charming little town just 18km from Barcelona and 33km from Barcelona-El Prat Airport.

Alella is a town surrounded by nature and tranquility in the Maresme region. Its proximity to Barcelona, its Mediterranean climate and the value of its landscapes attracted many wealthy families who built their second homes there, which is why today we can find manor houses of modernist and historicist styles that maintain the essence of the place.  

Its mountainous geography and at the same time its proximity to the sea with, gives you the privilege of conserving an extraordinary agricultural area. In addition, it offers a protected natural environment, highlighting the Natural Park of the Serralada Litoral. This allows a good development of sustainable activities related to ecotourism such as a guided tour of the park or a quiet bike ride through the vineyards.

Alella, wine tourism and culture

This municipality has a long history linked to the world of wine and is characterized by landscapes of vineyards. It has even achieved a prestigious recognition as it was one of the first areas of Catalonia to obtain the qualification of protected area as Denomination of Origin Alella. It has 8 wineries (6 of which are organic) and 310 hectares of vineyards that provide the excellent preparation of its famous and exquisite wines.
