Gran Canaria, the destination with the best weather in the world
This was like a dream come true. To be able to travel again, showing my mother’s island to the Scandinavian event planners, to promote the Canary Islands, to organize another fam trip after more than 2 years and doing this with the best local DMC called inSuite, who collaborates with our DMC partner in Spain maximice events group, was just like magic.
On the 6th of February 2022 we welcomed our participants at the airport, who were coming from Denmark, Norway and Sweden and started the 3 day trip with a delicious lunch at Finca Condal and a visit to charming Agüimes and Guayadeque villages in a nice and relaxing way. The group stayed at Lopesan Baobab Resort and the first evening we had dinner at Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa, that belongs also to Hoteles Lopesan and is only 10 minutes in walking distance.
The second day we were all set at 8.30h with comfortable clothes on and ready for a light trekking to the old volcano of Bandama, followed by a wine and local cheese tasting activity at San Juan Wine Cellar, which is located in a historic house surrounded by lots of greens and gardens. Lunch was served at La Bodeguita at the emblematic Hotel Santa Catalina Royal Hideaway in Las Palmas, which was inaugurated back in 1890 and is still the place where the local high society meets. Gran Canaria Convention Bureau was also present to tell us all the insights about the beautiful island. Then it was time to explore the historical town of Las Palmas walking through Vegueta, going to another nice walk at Las Canteras beach and finally having dinner with live music at Café del Mar, close to our hotel and with a really nice atmosphere, next to the beach of Costa Meloneras.
Did you know that flight connections between Gran Canaria and Scandinavia are more frequent this winter than in winter 2019/20?
The next day it was time to discover the southern coast of Gran Canaria on a sailing boat with lunch at Maroa Club de Mar. It was a nice way to admire the island from the sea and finally had a look at Maspalomas Beach before going back to the hotel and prepare for the farewell evening. We visited Lopesan Villa del Conde Hotel Resort & Thalasso, had a workshop about how to prepare Hollywood inspired cocktails and had our informal last dinner.
Wednesday was departure day and after breakfast we visited Expomeloneras Congress Centre, which was within walking distance from our hotel and offers an area of 14,000 square metres, 9,264 of which are indoor spaces for holding conferences, conventions, seminars and other types of events. We had an amazing time all together and have the feeling that the participants have already some clients in mind and will offer them Gran Canaria as the next destination in the near future.
We hope to welcome you soon again in our paradise!
