In February 2021 we began to do live interviews on Instagram called MAXlive with different experts from the tourism sector and the world of events. We would like to thank all for their participation. Thanks to Nadia Nemer from Nemer Studio, Mariska Kesteloo from Word of Mice, Trine Pedersen from OET Oslo, Norma Gallofré representing COPTUR, Jaime Ozores from Odgers and Berndtson, Maria Diaz from OET Copenhagen, Nabil Aguilera from Puro Group and Marc Ribas from Humanside. In June 2021 we decided to record these interviews in Zoom format and call them MAXinterviews in order to be able to share them in other social media platforms.
The first interview with this new format we did it was with Rebecca Johnson from Greenshare Solutions. Rebecca’s journey into the world of sustainability began with the implementation from scratch of an ISO20121 certified sustainable event management system at a recognized DMC. Since that time, Rebecca has supported different hotels, travel agencies, Convention Bureaus and tourism boards to address their impacts and generate positive changes in the environment, society and the local economy.
Our second interview was with Silvia Samsó, Sales Director of Meliá Villaitana in Benidorm. Recently MAX Tourism has signed an agreement with this incredible MICE hotel in order to promote it in the Nordic countries. During our conversation, Silvia explained the history of the hotel, why sustainability and social responsibility are currently key elements for the tourism sector, what Costa Blanca offers especially for MICE groups and why they decided to promote their hotel in the Scandinavian market through MAX Tourism.
During this year, we also interviewed Juan Miguel Caldentey, managing partner at maximice events group, which is a DMC with 10 local offices in Spain: Barcelona, Ibiza, Madrid, Marbella, Seville and Valencia, as well as his partners in Bilbao and in the Canary Islands. All offices staffed with local experts, who are up to date with the information of each destination and the right contacts.
In October we interviewed Mari Carmen Sánchez who is the President of the Municipal Board of Tourism and Beaches of Alicante. We talked with her about the strengths of the city of Alicante as a destination, what is being done in the city in terms of sustainability, the type of activities that are offered for incentive groups and the importance of its local gastronomy.
We have also interviewed Caroline Phelan, Meetings and Incentive Senior Manager for Europe at VisitBritain. For 5 months, we have worked on a project to attract Scandinavian MICE groups to destinations such as England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Our main task has been to connect VisitBritain with Scandinavian event organizers to create a link between the two markets.
Our last interview of 2021 was with Laia Puig, Deputy Director at Oller del Mas. The old winery inaugurated Les Cabanes in June 2021, a concept of sustainable luxury tourism surrounded by nature. They have a total of 22 cabins, a new concept of accommodation that seeks to achieve slowlife in an environment where nature and sustainability predominate, designed with sensitivity and harmony.
You can enjoy the different interviews that we did in MAXlive format on our Instagram account @max.tourism and the MAXinterviews on our YouTube channel. We continue to work with enthusiasm in future interviews with more professionals in the tourism sector.
