Interview with Reinald Gimeno, commercial director at Mas Salagros EcoResort
This section called MAXinterviews aims to inform through experts of the sector. With only 4 questions and answers, we are trying to discover what is happening in the tourism industry emphasizing in the MICE segment and Spain.
Reinald Gimeno has 25 years of experience in the tourism sector working for internationally renowned companies such as InterContinentalHotels Group, Hard Rock International and Marriott International to name a few. In the last 15 years he has been very focused on marketing 5* hotels in the outskirts of Barcelona with a great focus on MICE.
In September 2018 he joined Mas Salagros EcoResort where he applies his knowledge to boost the sales of this great hotel, which opened its doors in 2015 and which has matured over the years to become the first 100% EcoResort on the iberian peninsula
You have recently joined as Commercial Director at Mas Salagros EcoResort. What has surprised you the most and what characteristics do you think the hotel has to attract MICE clients?
I was surprised by the high level of companies that are already regular customers of Mas Salagros in only three years of activity. I would highlight our unique natural environment to concentrate and inspire teams, our organic and sustainable concept that is increasingly in demand and the flexibility of our great team to meet the needs of our MICE clients.
Your hotel is located 25 km from Barcelona, in Vallromanes, near Alella. What are the main values of your territory to attract people from the MICE Industry?
Our environment, we are inside the Protected Park of the Serralada Litoral, it allows our MICE clients to disconnect from their day to day and reconnect with the objective of their event, besides being able to carry out an infinity of outdoor teambuilding activities or within one of our rooms. On the other hand, our location is very close to fabulous places to do all kind of activities such as visiting Alella wineries, Maresme beaches, El Masnou marina, La Roca Village Outlet, Vallromanes Golf Club and the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya. Without forgetting that we are only 20 minutes away from Barcelona.
What would you say to an event organizer who usually stays in the city of Barcelona to convince them to hold their event in the outskirts and specifically in your hotel? What is your differential value?
I would encourage them to discover everything that a natural environment like ours can offer and what helps to make certain types of events more effective and profitable for companies and certainly more sustainable. Mas Salagros has 5 differential values: Ecological DNA, natural environment, high ecological gastronomy, AIRE Ancient Baths spa and our facilities.
How important is the Scandinavian market for your establishment?
The Scandinavian market is one of our priority markets for both MICE and Leisure. The reason is obvious: from the nearby European markets it is the one that most values that we are a true ecological proposal in such a privileged environment and climate.
