Lloret del Mar: Vibrating beauty of the Costa Brava

A city in Costa Brava, where tourism and MICE are thriving together in the coastal sunny weather

Located in the southernmost part of the emblematic Costa Brava, Lloret de Mar has become one of the most touristic places on the Catalan coast. Traditionally it was a fishing village, and nowadays, since its privileged location, it is possible to enjoy numerous tourism plans.

The distance to Barcelona Airport is of 1 hour and 10 minutes, 60 minutes from Barcelona city center and 20 minutes from Girona Airport, Lloret del Mar welcomes tourists to enjoy the sun, the beach and the idyllic landscapes of the Costa Brava. The city located right at the coast and is very close to the Dalí museum, in Figueres.

Its mild climate allows you to visit the city all year round and discover numerous sightseeing spots alongside its large forest area of 27 km2 and 9 km of coastline. Beaches and coves with clear water are combined with an interesting historical part of the city and a variety of offers in the field of accommodation and gastronomic offer with taste of the typical products of the region.

Lloret de Mar with more than 30,000 hotel beds and 3 Convention and Congress centres is one of the most unknown MICE  destinations in southern Europe.

A division of Lloret Turisme, the Lloret Convention Bureau was established in 2009 with the support of private sector businesses that are actively engaged in the business tourism industry. Its primary objective is to advertise Lloret de Mar as an exceptional Costa Brava location for hosting events, meetings, conferences, conventions, and incentive trips.

To achieve a higher quality of Lloret as a tourist destination, greater visitor satisfaction, longer duration of the visit and a higher repetition rate,  it enhances the integral renovation of the tourist destination through the digital transformation of the activity, promotion of sustainable development and acquisition of a greater knowledge of visitors and their behaviour.

There are several good practices that the Lloret Convention Bureau is implementing in terms of sustainability issues, for example, creation of joint public-private work plans for the transformation of the destination from the point of view of Ethics and sustainability strategies, focusing on accommodation and travel agencies, as companies that bring visitors to Lloret de Mar.

Some of these projects are:

  • Greentour – European project related to the Circular Economy in the tourism sector
  • collaboration with Bioscore platform,
  • LLorEat – sustainable Gastronomic project

Among the planned actions there are: The creation of a Tourism Intelligence Center that aggregates and facilitates a more efficient use of visitor data and tourist and citizen activity, the enrichment of the visitor experience through digital information, communication and entertainment mechanisms, and the improvement of sustainability through different technological components applied to the management of public lighting, parking, waste and irrigation stand out.

Lloret de Mar’s natural environment and infrastructures make it the perfect location for congresses, conferences, product presentations and business events.. One of their priorities is, sustainability as a strategic component and a crucial part of daily operations so that events can have a positive effect and ultimately benefit both the destination and the organisers.
